Happy 2025! This time of year welcomes in various emotions for everyone. Many of you might be reflecting on resolutions, hopes for this year, things you want to leave behind, and a word to focus on for the new year. At Steady Hope, we want to open up space to walk through what it means to have a slow approach to the start of the year. You do not have to step into the new year full of resolutions, you are free to allow yourself to create steady growth.

Our definition of Steady Hope
We wanted to start with breaking down what this means through the lens of breaking down our name and what it means to us:
Steady: 1. firmly fixed, supported, or balanced; not shaking or moving.
2. regular, even, and continuous in development, frequency or intensity.
Hope: 1. a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen
2. a feeling of trust
We are honored to have the chance to be a steady part of our client's days and
hold hope for them even if they can’t themselves.
Ideas for New Rhythms in the New Year
Everyone has a different definition of hope and we encourage you to define what this word means to you. We have a tool that could help you with our hope journal.
Below are some ways that can help spark some inspiration to start a year filled with hope:
Reflect on last year or previous years, what does your past experience tell you about your potential future?
Notice your thoughts and body sensations– especially when you are contemplating changes.
Focus on 1-2 areas at a time and set goals within a certain time frame (weekly, monthly, seasonally, quarterly)
Wintertime, by some, is associated with rest, renewal, and reflection to prepare for the year ahead
Start a hope or gratitude journal: Write what brings you hope or parts of your life and day that make you feel grateful or what or who brings out hope in your life
Expressing gratitude can also look like expressing gratitude out loud in your everyday life to family, friends, coworkers, and classmates
Identify activities & passions that bring joy (no matter how small)
Ex: go on a drive, cook your favorite meal, pursue new hobbies & classes
Your pace is enough no matter what is happening around you and online. No matter how this year starts for you, there is always time to start something new. If you find it hard to hope or your hope feels small, our team would love to use tools and support to help you identify hope for the future.
